SEMI-FINALS FOR 33RD ANNUAL SAN FRANCISCO COMEDY COMPETITION COMING TO TAHOE’S MONTBLEU RESORT CASINO & SPA
Rising Stars Compete for $25,000 on Stage Saturday, Sept. 27
(Stateline, Nev.)— Hundreds of comedians auditioned for 30 spots in the 2008 San Francisco Comedy Competition and now, 10 semi-finalists are vying for $25,000 and a possible career boost. MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa (http://www.montbleuresort.com) at South Lake Tahoe will host the semi-finals for the 33rd annual competition on Sept. 27. Tickets to the 9 p.m. show are $25 plus tax.
It’s a process of elimination: preliminary rounds one and two are now over, leaving only 30 comedians to compete in the semi-finals, hosted in a series of locations across Northern California. Each comedian will perform a 10-12 minute set for the semi-finals at MontBleu and only five will go on to the final rounds of the competition, held Sept. 30 through Oct. 4.
Contestants are professional comedy-club headliners. Past contestants include Dane Cook, Dana Carvey, Roseanne Barr, Ellen DeGeneres, Mark Curry, Patton Walton and Robin Williams. Johnny Steele, the 1992 champion, will host the event.
